Revealing this to newsmen in a briefing on Wednesday at the NLC Secretariat in Bauchi, the State NLC Chairman, Comrade Hasimu Gital, said the decision to embark on the tour was coming shortly after a meeting between the three unions where issues bothering on the welfare of civil services were deliberated upon.
Comrade Gital stated that the aim of the tour was to interact with members of the unions and update them on issues that pertains their welfare as well as disabuse their minds on negative information by saboteurs of the government concerning workers salaries.
According to him, “we have received reports of some unscrupulous politicians who patronize the conventional social media to dish out wrong information to workers in relation to issues such as gratuities, salaries and pension”
“It is our duty as mother unions in the state to disabuse the minds of our members by interacting with them to know their challenges and enlighten them on the plans of government towards the welfare of workers in the state”
The government, he said was working tirelessly to upset the backlog of gratuities owed retirees noting that the union was still dialoguing with the government to ensure that all outstanding gratuities are paid.
