For the purpose of raising funds for its services to the people, Imo State Government has drawn up a workable blue print to generate monthly N3billion from the internally generated revenue (IGR).
According to the Chairman of the state Internal Revenue Services (IGR) Mr. Obinna Duruaku, the present administration of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha has drawn up a workable blue print to actualize this.
He believed that the blue print, if properly implemented would provide the required fund for the execution of the programmes of the administration.
The chairman disclosed that already the state internally generated revenue has risen from N241 million during the Immediate past administration of Rochas Okorocha to Over N790 million.
According to him, the administration is running a transparent system, that the state’s revenue and financial records can be assessed and verified.
He further said, “the present administration in the state met nothing on ground, no functional civil service, no process and no hand over note from the previous administration.
The chairman alleged that the past administration of Chief Rochas Okorocha collected the internal revenue of the state up front before its departure, pointing out that the present administration is still getting court orders to close some of the accounts indiscriminately opened by officials of the Rochas administration in the name of the state government.
On the activities of fraudsters in the state revenue drive, the chairman further said that the present administration has recorded tremendous success in apprehending and checkmating fraudsters and other activities in the system.
He said so far five different fake revenue collection groups have been smashed by other security operatives of the present administration. They would soon be charged to court he added.
