Investment in the nation’s equity market Tuesday sustained it’s growth profile with market capitalisation increased by N84 billion.
The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) trading result Tuesday showed that Market Capitalisation of listed equities appreciated by 0.69 per cent to N12.117 trillion from N12.033 trillion recorded the previous day.
The NSE All Share Index increased by 228.63 basis points to 33191.45 points from 32962.82 traded on Monday. Investors traded 185.192 million shares worth N2.350 billion in 3180 deals against 257.919 million shares valued at N4.950 billion in 3178 deals.
A review of the trading activities during the day showed that Nestle Nigeria Plc led gainers table during the day gaining N30.00 to close at N1400.00, Dangote Cement followed with a gain of N4.50 kobo to close at N214.50 kobo, FBNHoldings gained N0.40 kobo to close at N9.65 kobo, Dangote Floor Mill Nigeria Plc appreciated by N0.20 kobo to close at N7.70 kobo, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria ( Transcorp) gained N0.12 kobo to close at N1.37 kobo.
On the contrary, Unilever Nigeria Plc recorded the highest loss during the day, shedding N1.85 kobo to close at N45.65 kobo, Betaglass followed with a a drop of N1.20 kobo to close at N69.00, PZ industries fell by N0.95 kobo to close at N11.45 kobo, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated decreased by N0.85 kobo to close at N16.00, Glaxosmith Kline down by N0.40 kobo to close at N12.30 kobo.
FCMB Group of the banking sub sector was the most active stock for the day, trading 27.551 million shares worth N42.804 million , Transnational Corporation of Nigeria followed with account of 24.871 million shares worth N31.947 million , Guaranty Trust Bank sold 15.179 million shares cost N553.938 million. Access Bank sold 14.786 million shares valued at N118.751 million while United Bank of Nigeria exchanged 14.422 million shares cost N115.603 million.
